At Borders School of Dance, we’re all about watching our dancers grow, not just as performers, but as people.
Few stories capture that journey better than Jessica Scott’s.
As she prepares to step into full-time dance training at Hamilton Theatre Arts in Glasgow this autumn, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate the incredible young woman she’s become, and the amazing eight year journey we’ve been lucky enough to share with her.

Jessica proudly holding her award – just one of many well earned recognitions from her time with us.
From Lauder Ballet Beginnings to Dance All-Rounder
Jessica first joined us as a quiet young ballerina in Lauder, dipping her toes (and pointes!) into the world of dance. Back then, ballet was her sole focus, but it didn’t take long before she began to explore everything we had to offer. Fast forward to today, and Jessica is a true all-rounder – studying ballet, modern, tap, acro, contemporary, and commercial with passion, dedication and joy. She’s competed as part of our Southside School of Dance competition team for the past four years, showing not only technical excellence but true team spirit every time she steps on stage.
From Student to Teacher: A True Role Model
One of the most special parts of Jessica’s journey is how she’s grown into a leader and mentor within our school. She began assisting in classes as soon as she was able, around age 12 with Miss Louise in Lauder, and quickly became a constant, positive presence in our studio. Whether she was supporting our tiniest tap dancers or helping with senior rehearsals, Jessica brought patience, kindness, and a genuine love of teaching to every class. Now, she’s officially a fully qualified dance teacher, complete with PVG and first aid training. We couldn’t be prouder.

Miss Holly said the following:
“I am incredibly proud of and continually impressed by Jess’s progress as a dancer and a coach. She has a fabulous understanding of technique and her passion for dance has always shone through. This is what makes her such a good teacher, as she has a great eye for giving corrections and prompts to students, and always with kindness and compassion.”
From studio to stage, Jessica has taken every opportunity to grow and shine, including summer intensives at leading schools.
What’s Next for Jessica
While Jessica will technically be “graduating” from her student classes this August, she’s not going far. She’ll be training full-time at Hamilton Theatre Arts in Glasgow, pursuing her dream of a professional dance career, but she’ll still be part of our Borders family. We’re thrilled she’ll be back with us on weekends to teach, assist, and keep being the familiar, friendly face that so many of our dancers look up to.
A Message from Miss Louise:
“It’s been an absolute joy teaching Jessica over the last eight years. Watching her grow from a shy little ballerina in Lauder to a confident, capable dance teacher is one of the proudest parts of my career. I know she’s going to achieve amazing things, and we’re lucky to still have her on our team!”
Jessica, we are so proud of you. You’ve stepped, leapt, and soared – and this is only the beginning.
