Celebrating Miss Holly – Our New Vice Principal at Borders School of Dance

At Borders School of Dance, we are incredibly lucky to have teachers who shape not just strong dancers, but confident young people. Today, we’re especially proud to celebrate someone who has been at the heart of our school for the last nine years… our wonderful Miss Holly.

We are absolutely delighted to share that Miss Holly has been promoted to Vice Principal of Borders School of Dance, a role that recognises her dedication, expertise, and the enormous impact she has on our dancers and teaching team.

And honestly? We think she’s brilliant.

A Journey Rooted in Classical Training

Miss Holly’s love of dance began at a young age, studying ballet, modern and tap before moving north at seventeen to train full-time at Ballet West Scotland, where she specialised in classical technique and also studied contemporary, commercial and choreography.

During her professional training, she performed with the touring company in productions including Swan Lake, graduating with First Class Honours before returning to Edinburgh to continue her teaching journey. Alongside her performance career, she completed a Master’s degree in Dance Science and Education at the University of Edinburgh, reflecting her thoughtful, research-informed approach to teaching

Her background as both a performer and educator shapes the calm, structured and nurturing environment she creates in every class.

A Teacher Who Believes in the Whole Dancer

Miss Holly is a professionally qualified teacher who believes strongly in a holistic approach to dance education.

Her classes are known for being focused, encouraging and quietly inspiring. She supports dancers not just in developing technique, but in building confidence, resilience and pride in their progress.

She may not be one for the spotlight herself (unless it involves sharing photos of her lovely dog or adventures around the Borders with her daughter Margo), but her impact on our dancers speaks volumes.

Incredible Results and Opportunities for Our Dancers

Under Miss Holly’s guidance, our dancers continue to achieve outstanding results.

We are especially proud that her students have maintained a 100% ISTD exam pass rate, a reflection of her careful preparation and high standards.

Even more exciting is seeing where her dancers go next. Recent students she has supported are now training at:

  • Italia Conti
  • UCW Bath
  • Scottish Institute of Theatre, Dance & Television
  • Hamilton Theatre Arts
  • Bird College

Watching our dancers take these next steps is one of the most special parts of what we do, and Miss Holly plays a huge role in making those journeys possible.

Nine Years of Dedication to Borders School of Dance

For nearly a decade, Miss Holly has helped shape the culture of Borders School of Dance.

She leads with kindness, consistency and care. She supports our teachers. She champions our dancers. And she brings a thoughtful professionalism to everything she does behind the scenes.

As Principal, Miss Louise continues working hard to grow the school and create new opportunities for our dancers and team, while Miss Holly will continue managing classes and supporting the development of our teaching staff in her new role as Vice Principal.

Together, they make a brilliant partnership for the future of BSOD.

A Well-Deserved Recognition

Promoting Miss Holly to Vice Principal feels like a very natural step – and a very well-deserved one.

She represents everything we value at Borders School of Dance:

care
commitment
excellence
and a genuine love for helping young people grow through dance

We are so proud to have her as part of our team, and even prouder to see her recognised in this way.

Congratulations, Miss Holly
